Blueserve Facilities Ltd

By Luke  //  Portfolio  //  No Comments

Blueserve are a start up electrical contractor. I worked with the directors to create a website which met their requirements but retained room to grow in future.

This project is still ongoing, but is being rolled out in phases. The first phase which we organised and has been deployed was the initial front page, with basic news and features and a contact us page.

The project will be expanded in the next phase with Case Studies with full examples of work, Problem Reporting and a more advanced contact feature.

I settled on HTML5 as the background with minimal use of incompatible features to provide compatibility. The HTML5 Shiv was very useful here to enable IE7-9 support.

In addition to the web design, we host their site and DNS on our platform.

Kardznmore Online Shop

By Luke  //  Portfolio  //  No Comments

Kardznmore make hand crafted goods all the way up in Sunny Aberdeenshire. They wanted a site to sell their goods to a larger audience. They have some incredible ideas, and the finished articles are very good.

We wanted a stylish online shop, which was easy to use and had to be simple to manage.  The girls at Kardznmore are always busy, and making it easy for them to update and add products was very important.

As well as designing and building the site for them, we host the database and front end on our debian servers which gives a further level of control and management.

In the end we picked OpenCart for the shopping site. I have been very pleased with this platform. After experimenting with Tomato Cart and Magento I finally felt that OpenCart, while being much less advanced, offered the right level of detail and administration for this project.

Nick Wild Photography

By Luke  //  Portfolio  //  No Comments

Nick came to me through a friend a couple of years ago looking for a photography website. We worked on this for quite a while and eventually came up with something that we were completely happy with.

I based the site on WordPress as a CMS and built the site with NextGEN Gallery to cope with the photo management. I think we achieved what we aimed for, and got a site that was both functional and informative.

You can see the live site at www.nickwildphotography.co.uk

We put a lot of work into the portfolio section of the website, and worked a few nifty bits with hover opacity which really brings the page to life. Nick felt it was important to have some background music playing, so I embedded a small flash based player in the footer.

We added purchase options for photos with Fotomoto. This was the first time I had used them, and found it to be a very good service. It was easy to add purchase options and integrate with WordPress. You get a control panel on their site, and a full shopping cart interaction on the site. They then take payment for and print orders received in a variety of formats. Overall, a wicked service.

Overall the project was a success, and the site has gone down well.

Website, SEO, Design – Quore Ltd

By Luke  //  Portfolio  //  No Comments

While working at Quore, I created and designed many reincarnations of the corporate website. The current version, though not updated since I have left still shows the style and design that I created. Quore wanted to create a functional but informative site, which focused on the products and features which they offer.

The emphasis was on functionality and design and incorporated their help-desk software, and ticketing system.

The website was a big project and has several levels of complexity. I used php, jquery, css3 and html to create the basis of the site.
